 Who was Dr. Carlos E. Castañeda?
Dr. Carlos Castañeda was born in Camargo, Mexico in 1896. He was the Valedicatorian at Brownsville High School in 1916. He was a distinguished scholar who graduated from the University of Texas-Austin in 1921, received his Masters in 1923 and his Ph.D in 1932. His ambition was to introduce Latin American history and its publications and successfully accomplished his goal. His professions included being an educator, an author, a librarian, a historian, a professor and a superintendent. We are proud to continue his legacy by honoring his achievements and always striving for excellence.
Dr. Carlos Castañeda Elementary welcomed its first students in 2001.
